English Collection
The English collection is part of
the original collections of the Research Library that were enriched by gifts
and donations by several prominent personalities in India. The main part is consisting
of Late Putchalapalli Sundarayya's personal collection. There are several
valuable additions to the main collection in the form of donations by the
progressive and creative writers and intellectual of modern Andhra. The active
purchases of contemporary publications on Humanities and Social Sciences have
made the Research Library the main depositary of essential reading materials
for the research scholars, students and teachers. The most valuable are the
19th and 20th century local publications in English. Apart from the printed
books of the colonial period, the Sundarayya Vignana Kendram has journals in
series run: for instance we have the entire collection of The Indian Review, 1902-1976. Most of the series on Indian
inscriptions and archeology are available with us.
We are now approaching individual
scholars and intellectuals to donate their collections to Sundarayya Vignana
Kendram for preservation and making them accessible to the global community of
scholars.
