The Sundarayya Vignana Kendram was commissioned in the year 1988. It is managed by a registered Non-Profit Trust. It is maintained by Public Donations, which are exempted from income-tax under Section 80 G of Indian Income Tax Act. While the land was donated by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, the existing building was constructed with the contributed by the public in the form of donations.

 

Sundarayya Vignana Kendram

The Sundarayya Vignana Kendram consists of a Public Reading Room, a Research Library, a small Seminar Room with 150 seats, a 450 seat centrally cooled Auditorium and Rooms for Research Scholars. We are on a mission of collecting and persevering printed materials; revival of local libraries, and creation of Union Catalogue for printed materials in all South Indian languages.

 

Research Library

 

As part of the first phase of the activities, the Sundarayya Vignana Kendram has started a specialized Research Library. It has a rich collection of rare books, journals, newspapers, reports, pamphlets, manuscripts, private papers, etc., in different languages. The collection is particularly rich in Urdu, Telugu and English language material throwing light on the socio-cultural, economic and political histories and popular movements of all types of the 12th through 20th centuries. The Research Library is now managed by a registered Non-Profit Trust called Sundarayya Grandhalaya Samstha.
